Bareilly Cantonment Board is an autonomous organization under the Government of India, Ministry of Defence, which undertakes mandatory and discretionary functions such as education, public health, sanitation, roads, street lights, water supply and birth and death registration under the provisions of the Cantonment Act, 2006. The board has been divided into seven wards for the purpose of administration and civil representation. Cantonment Board Bareilly was established in the year 1811. It is spread over an area of 4259.42 acres out of which a notified civil area of 139.5026 acres is included. The Cantonment Board caters to the civil services of the area’s civilian population as well as the army units located here. According to the 2011 census report, the total population of the area is 30003.
